01. Test Drive Meme

TEST DRIVE MEME

Thinking about joining Iterum? Unsure of who to bring or if they'll even fit the setting? Posting here offers you the chance to find out how they'll do while getting the sample for done for their application.

→ Comment down below with the character you'd like to test drive in the setting. Don't forget to add their name and canon in the subject line.
→ Choose a scenario or create your own, and tag around!
→ Test drives will be posted regularly in the months of March, June, September, and December.
→ Threads in the test drive are NOT eligible to use for activity checks, however, you can make them game canon if you wish and both you and your scene partner agree.

Possible Scenarios
Please note that all characters will initially arrive in their assigned housing; they are free to explore the City to their heart's content after that!

01. Arriving: You're pretty sure you knew where you were before you closed your eyes. But somewhere between then and now, you discover that you're definitely not there. In fact, the setting is so unfamiliar to you that it's bordering on unnerving and questions start to stack. Have you been abducted? Did you get drunk and pass out somewhere and not remember? Whatever the case, you need some answers. Or maybe this is familiar and the only thing that doesn't make sense is the layer of dust on everything around you which obviously means some time has passed. How much? No one seems to know. What you do know is that sitting around and waiting for answers is likely not going to happen.

So, you set out and hope to run into someone in the City that looks like they may be in a similar situation. Or, at the very least a person that might be able to provide some explanation. Veteran Chosen, make sure you warn the new people about the Shadows and advise them to steer clear of dark alleys and things that go bump in the night.

02. Party, party!: Now that you've arrived and hopefully settled, it's time to unwind. Inside your welcome basket is an invitation from the Duchess, who has decided to celebrate the growing population of the City with a massive "Welcome to the City" party in the Tower District. Wine spills free, and drugs abound, this is the kinda party that caters to all! The wicked and debauched demons and the good and decent who, if not careful, might end up tainted and corrupted at some point, like everyone else. Even if it's only for one night, why not cut loose and forget about whatever is pressing on your mind?

Nothing to wear? Check your closet, we're sure you'll find something suitable to wear.

03. Prominence: Everyone knows that the City sometimes influences its population on a monthly basis. Unfortunately, you arrived right in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride: choose your sin and get wicked. You'll find it's hard to avoid being sinful, almost as if your basic instincts are taking over.

04. Run!: A lot can go wrong in the City; demon attacks, muggings or there's even danger of being plucked from the streets and forced to partake in the Coliseum's version of Fight Club (if you know, you know). There are plenty of unsavoury types that all Chosen must be aware of. They rule the night, and once the sun goes down it becomes the Sinning Hour. Demons and monsters and humans capable of inciting just as much fear, if not more, come out to play. Mind yourself. It's hardly a tea party out there.

05. Network: Broadcast a video, voice or text message to anyone in your phone's directory. All Chosen have a device that they can use to communicate. Those that are returning will find their phone as it was, though without any contact that was previously in the City that is not currently. For the newly Chosen, a device will be supplied in your welcome basket and will match the type of telecommunications that was being used at the time of their exit.

06. Wild Card: Choose your own adventure in the game's multiple settings!

Endless pockets and purses were the optimal places to hide the random rifle, weeks worth of food, tampons and other needed tools. If only the bag of holding were a thing here. She kept watch over him, it was the least she could do in this case.

" Yeah, don't mention it." she said waving her hand lightly. She gave him a wink as he glanced her direction. Connections even if they were small were important in this place. She felt more so than any other she'd been dropped into.

As he stood up she did too making sure to hold a hand out in case he felt a bit wobbly. " As filthy as this side walk is your definitely better standing." spoken as she rose a brow looking at the spot where they had just rested. Gross.

" You look like you've seen better days, but the good thing is..." she rocked on her feet ",, I found you, so I can help you navigate it a little better." and she offered him a smile, " I'm Maggie by the way."

It's an important thing, those little moments of humanity. Jaeger has missed them, living the isolated and nomadic lifestyle he's resigned to for the past sic years.

But sometimes, there's moments like this, a look, a kind genture, and he remembers how much he misses it.

He steadies himself on long legs, and moves just to the edge of the sidewalk so he can lean on the wall and sip his water, clear his head. He can shower and change later, once he...finds some spare clothes, first of all.

Questions, questions are good. Answers even better.

"I'm Andrew." Names work, it's a good place to start. "You know where we are?"

She knew a little of self isolation, she'd spent some time doing it in spades when she was younger. Just seemed better than dealing with well...anything at all. She too spent some days yearning for something more than what she was doing. Perhaps that is what had made her peer her head back into the fold of human life.

She took a deep breath moving so that the flow of foot traffic wouldn't be interrupted.

" Well, Andrew that is a loaded question. Yes, I sort of know where we are..." she pointed her fingers to the side walk " this is Shantytown. I am pretty sure it is at least. The place at large seems almost the same as a place I knew before but the jury is still out on how much is the same."

For Jaeger, isolation was a grim necessity but he was used to it. That didn't mean he enjoyed it, but he understood the need for it, the enormity of the threat that pursued him.

And the weight of past sins.

"Shantytown. I don't think I've ever been here before. And I'm not sure exactly how I got here. Last I knew..." He trails off, and then shakes his head. "I was in trouble with no help coming. Then i was in an apartment. With a cafe."

With each breath and sip of water, he gets a little steadier. Bringing that ringing chaos back into focus.

"Have you been here long?"

Most unfortunate of situation it would seem he had been through. It drew a frown from her, not one of pity but empathy. " Well friend, I'll look out for ya here." That was just how Maggie was, the protective inner tigress had gotten much larger as time progressed. The more she liked ya the more fierce that tiger was.

" If you're lucky you haven't and won't have to worry about being here here for long." she looked to him with a half smirk. " It's kinda the shitty part of town." Thanks, whomever thought that those who were envious needed to live in shit accommodations.

" This time? No, not very long but last time I was here for a few years." she looked ot him " How long ago did you wake up here?"

"The apartment was actually nice. I've stayed in worse places." Including places like Shantytown, though they had never been his favorite.

Necessity was a bastard sometimes, but he was nothing if not stoic.

He regards Maggie as if she's only just now coming into focus, this woman offering to protect him in thus new and very uncertain situation. He's not sure he can muster a protest and he's too polite, even now, to express doubt.

He's used to being pursued by forces he would never wish on this nice lady. And he's still not sure that this place is much better, though on the bright side, he's not dead quite yet.

Something to hold onto, and he lets out his breath and focuses on her question.

"Not long. Hours at most? Though I'm not entirely sure. There was a welcome basket." Full of fun things like knives and drugs and jars of mixed nuts. Comfy pajamas. Things that only made sense in a context he hadn't quite grasped yet.

" Ah! You definitely didn't get dumped in this area then, unless you are used to living in a trash bin, I guess it's nice here if that is what you have back home." though she doubted that he was disjointed but at the base of it put together enough.

Those forces were probably no worse than the witches and her mother, but he would learn in time that Maggie wasn't really something creatures around here wanted to mess with. Most demons could be put in their place pretty easily with a bit of firey persuasion.

" That is a pretty normal feeling when you first get here, the welcome basket has some useful things but I would advise against trying any of the drugs you will find in there. They won't do you any favors I promise you that." she smiled to him and looped her arm loosely around his, there was over a foot height difference here and she was sure his long legs could leave her in the dust easily. " Do you drink coffee or tea? We could go get some and maybe a cookie or something?"

"Not here," he agrees, taking another small slow sip of his water. It's steadying, and he appreciates the cool plastic in his hand as he rambles through the circumstances he finds himself in.

"There was a Cafe, on the bottom floor, and it was in the...Coliseum district, I know that much. But I walked for a while, I needed to see..." He hesitates. "I needed to see what happened. If I was in danger. Where I was at all. Then I stopped."

And that was where he was now. She takes his arm and he stiffens for a moment, unsure, before forcing himself to relax and accept the gesture.

He's still a little on edge, and very honestly not used to being touched casually. It's been a while.

"Tea...I think tea would be good," he says with a slow nod. Tea sounds strikingly normal and maybe that's a good thing.

"And I ignored the drugs," he adds after a moment, almost an afterthought. "It's not something I'm interested in."
