TEST DRIVE MEME

Possible Scenarios
Please note that all characters will initially arrive in their assigned housing; they are free to explore the City to their heart's content after that!

01. Arriving: You're pretty sure you knew where you were before you closed your eyes. But somewhere between then and now, you discover that you're definitely not there. In fact, the setting is so unfamiliar to you that it's bordering on unnerving and questions start to stack. Have you been abducted? Did you get drunk and pass out somewhere and not remember? Whatever the case, you need some answers. Or maybe this is familiar and the only thing that doesn't make sense is the layer of dust on everything around you which obviously means some time has passed. How much? No one seems to know. What you do know is that sitting around and waiting for answers is likely not going to happen.

So, you set out and hope to run into someone in the City that looks like they may be in a similar situation. Or, at the very least a person that might be able to provide some explanation. Veteran Chosen, make sure you warn the new people about the Shadows and advise them to steer clear of dark alleys and things that go bump in the night.

02. Party, party!: Now that you've arrived and hopefully settled, it's time to unwind. Inside your welcome basket is an invitation from the Duchess, who has decided to celebrate the growing population of the City with a massive "Welcome to the City" party in the Tower District. Wine spills free, and drugs abound, this is the kinda party that caters to all! The wicked and debauched demons and the good and decent who, if not careful, might end up tainted and corrupted at some point, like everyone else. Even if it's only for one night, why not cut loose and forget about whatever is pressing on your mind?

Nothing to wear? Check your closet, we're sure you'll find something suitable to wear.

03. Prominence: Everyone knows that the City sometimes influences its population on a monthly basis. Unfortunately, you arrived right in the middle of a heavy Prominence. Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, or Pride: choose your sin and get wicked. You'll find it's hard to avoid being sinful, almost as if your basic instincts are taking over.

04. Run!: A lot can go wrong in the City; demon attacks, muggings or there's even danger of being plucked from the streets and forced to partake in the Coliseum's version of Fight Club (if you know, you know). There are plenty of unsavoury types that all Chosen must be aware of. They rule the night, and once the sun goes down it becomes the Sinning Hour. Demons and monsters and humans capable of inciting just as much fear, if not more, come out to play. Mind yourself. It's hardly a tea party out there.

05. Network: Broadcast a video, voice or text message to anyone in your phone's directory. All Chosen have a device that they can use to communicate. Those that are returning will find their phone as it was, though without any contact that was previously in the City that is not currently. For the newly Chosen, a device will be supplied in your welcome basket and will match the type of telecommunications that was being used at the time of their exit.

For once, Lorna puts her long green hair in a braid instead of wearing it loose and down. Her dress is a simple short black one, because when does a classic ever go wrong? Her black heels are decorated with tiny metal studs on them, because of course they are. It'll make a convenient weapon if things go awry here? Sure.

She's sipping some wine off to ye side a little for now, and asks the person next to her:

"Is this one of those brainwashing and gaslighting parties? Like, hey we know we kidnapped you and shit but we swear we're nice! Been there done that."

Followed by a big drink of wine.

I wish I could say multiverse hopping right after being in the presence of my crazy powerful witch sister was unusual. I love her but wow this is getting a bit much.

As for my sister, you know how play-dough or clay is really malleable? She's like that but, uhh all of reality is the dough.

A world where they wanted to marry us off to some prince we didn't know, and this place. Of course, there's good old terrible home too. You?

Yeah, the colorful ones in the yellow tubes? Smells bad. I know it.

Okay, but that is even more cool! What a cool sister.

That sounds like some bullshit, I'd go crazy there. I also have been to this pocket dimension that is literally just a reality show run by an entertainment obsessed leader. So, capitalism personified.

She is; she has a shop in New York now, a magic one.

It was a lot of bull shit for sure. You get used to it, though, and make connections that last through time and space. But, I have got to ask about that reality show, that sounds like a fresh hell for sure.

She's getting cooler with every thing you say.

That's always a plus, finding things like that in the middle of dumbassery. If my sister ever shows up here I'll make sure you meet her.

As for the reality show world, you know like, uh, survivor and shit? It's like that mixed with hunger games, mostly. 0/10

Peter has a drink himself, although sipping at it really makes no difference to him, so he's just doing it to fit in. He's not interested in any of the other intoxicating substances (but as he would metabolize them so quickly that they'd have no effect, so what's the point, really), but he has a plate piled high with food, from which food disappears so quickly that it's hard to believe he's eating it instead of hiding it.

"I mean, yeah, basically." This isn't his first time at this particular rodeo.

[geomagnetically]

"Oh god, okay, well, good luck to them I guess. I've had worse do that to me." On a couple of occasions, at least. A stint with Apocalypse and then with Malice, good times. Not.

She notices his food. "Stashing away for later is the least one can do here, good idea."

[silversneakers]

"Most of the people here have. You kind of get used to it after awhile." It's not like they have much choice, anyway, since they have no idea how to get back where they came from.

He glances down at the pile of food. "This isn't for later." He'll have it gone by the end of this conversation.

[geomagnetically]

"How very comforting." She says, jokingly. Then she nods slowly when he says the bit about the food. "My brother knows that trick too. Inhales food, I mean. He's also a superspeeder and smartass, though, so I think it comes with the territory of the metabolism."

Ha.

Ha ha.

Hahahahaha.

At least she says it fondly?

Aha. Things are starting to become clear. Past conversations that he had when he was here before are starting to provide some context.

"You mean like this?" He lets go of the plate of food and speeds off, so that before the plate has traveled even an inch in the direction of the floor, he's standing in the same spot as before, balancing not only his original plate of food but also another one, also piled high, leaving only a breeze in his wake.

[geomagnetically]

“Yes, exactly like that.” She laughs as her hair blows some in that breeze he leaves in his wake. “My thing's magnetism. I'm Lorna Dane, by the way, hey.”

[silversneakers]

"Magnetism, like Erik?" He doesn't remember anyone mentioning before what Lorna's abilities were, just that she existed. This would just be one more bit of proof that even though the worlds are all different, they're still connected in some way.

"Peter. Maximoff. Although there are some universes out there where it's Pietro."

The multiverse is weird.

[geomagnetically]

“Exactly like. I know you as Pietro, yeah. Did Wanda or Erik come in with you, or just you?” Because if it were just him, she could see him trying to run through whatever magic barriers are keeping them here.

[silversneakers]

"They were here last time. I haven't seen them here yet this time." He figures if Wanda's here somewhere, they'll find each other. They might not be from the same universe, but they're still Wanda and Peter/Pietro. Erik will probably make his presence known soon enough, too. He tends to do that.

[geomagnetically]

“If they are here, I'd bet it's a matter of time before they make themselves visible.” For better or worse, she silently adds.

“What's your world like, then? There's obviously a few differences.”

[silversneakers]

"That tends to be how things happen with Erik." They don't have to look for him. If he's here, they'll know it soon enough.

"There's mutants." Obviously. "Sometimes there are problems, sometimes there aren't. It seems like just about the time that non-mutants forget that we exist, something happens to remind them."

[geomagnetically]

"Give him a minute and he'll be busting in here with a booming, over dramatic 'who dares kidnap the master of magnetism' or some shit."

Which is to say, yes that is how things go with him.

"So the same shitty status quo with mutants. Are you married to Crystal too? I like her, she's fun."

[silversneakers]

"Yeah, pretty much." Details are starting to come back to him. Does all of this somehow connect back to the attack Erik had led on the tower? Will things be worse this time around because of it?

"I don't even know anyone by that name. I'm not married to anyone." It's a good sign though, he supposes. Maybe it means that one day he will be.

[geomagnetically]

"Oh, well if you meet a badass elemental inhuman princess, that'd be her." She mentally notes the other difference in their worlds.

Looking around, she starts to think she wants to be the overdramatic bitch of the party. Everyone seems too uptight, including herself.

[silversneakers]

Now he's noticing some differences. He doesn't understand a couple of those words. "Okay, what's an inhuman?"

He'll just eat his way through his two plates of food while she explains.

[geomagnetically]

“Short version? They're kinda like us in that they have powers and it's genetic based, but they have to go through a process called Terrigenesis to get the powers. Their home, Attilan, is kind of a .. teleporting city? Don't think too hard about it.”

[silversneakers]

"Right." He really can't think too hard about it because he doesn't understand it, and since he's never heard of anyone like that in his world, he might not ever have to understand it. Or they're all in for some more surprises. "If I'll ever meet anyone like that, I'll keep that in mind."

[geomagnetically]

“Everyone has their politics, too. It gets complex in other ways also.” She sighs softly. “But I guess, family is always nice to find, regardless of then whens or wheres.”
